Richard Betts
Founder & Principal Consultant Director
Richard is our Founder and Principal Consultant Director.
He launched Trig Point Consulting during the Pandemic to support organisations struggling to adapt to the challenges presented by COVID.
With his very unique blend of skills & experiences Richard is able to offer clients a range of perspectives and importantly lead change programmes to achieve their objectives.
Richard is passionate about helping clients align their people, processes and technologies to overcome business challenges, create meaningful customer & user relationships and realise positive results.
Drawing on over 29 years’ experience in the technology sector, aligned with market leading vendors spanning software, telecoms and networking, Richard developed a deep understanding of how technology works. More importantly, through hands on experience he has learnt how to align technology to business processes and needs, to achieve tangible benefits.
Over the last three decades Richard has worked with a huge range of organisations from rapid growth startups, companies spanning the globe, retail, professional services, charities, public sector including healthcare & local government.
Richard’s unique background of over 23 years in the Emergency & First Response Services has developed his ability to lead teams in high pressure situations, by rapidly adapting the plan to overcome adversity while keeping a cool calm perspective in highly stressful situations.
As a professional International Mountain Leader of over 14 years, Richard guides and instructs clients in mountain ranges throughout the world. Sharing his vast knowledge and expertise with clients, he enables them to achieve their outdoor objectives.
Interests
- Playing golf and trying to reduce my handicap
- Storm chasing and visiting the US and elsewhere to enjoy weather events.
- A goal is to see the Aurora.

- Founded two successful businesses both of which are performing well.
- Serving for over 15 years in the West Sussex Fire & Rescue as a firefighter and Watch Manager.
- 3 years with SECAMB as a Community First Responder.
- 8 years in Lowland Search & Rescue (Search Dogs Sussex).
Unique Facts
- Richard was Richard Branson’s personal guide in the European Alps for a multiday trek through the Swiss and Italian Alps.
- A long term goal is to run a 50 mile ultra trail race.
- Richard started his first business at the age of 18.
Harry Watkinson
Junior Consultant
Harry joined Trig Point Consulting as a Junior Consultant in March 2023.
As a Junior Consultant Harry is under the mentorship of our Principal Consultant while he develops the wide range of skills required to become a Senior Consultant. Harry is actively involved with clients programmes of work including running projects, leading business process workshops, performing analytical reviews and preparing strategic reports.
Harry graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2020 and later went on to complete a post-graduate Master’s degree in International Business Management at the University of Surrey. Prior to joining Trig Point, he worked as a Strategy Coordinator and Trainee Project Manager for a Healthtech company which specialised in Process Management and Workflow Analysis. During his time there he was involved in several NHS funded initiatives, and assisted with the projects from prospecting through to their final delivery.
Goals and Aspirations
- To become a Senior Consultant.
- Gain the PRINCE2 and PRINCE2 Agile certifications.
- Provide valuable insights to clients allowing them to achieve innovative & valuable change.
- Foster strong and lasting client relationships.
Achievements:
- Successfully help to implement crucial programme objectives, pushing forward key transformation work.
- Played an important role in maintaining cadence of project through building relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Learning new concepts in the industry.
Unique Facts:
- Completed a 14,000ft Skydive in Australia
- Finished Half Marathon raising £3,000 for Parkinson’s UK
- Avid Cricket, Football & Rugby Fan. Including playing cricket on tour in India and watching the British & Irish Lions play in New Zealand.

- Enjoys fishing & golf.
